Google unveils Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking artificial intelligence model that ‘clearly shows your thoughts’
Jeff Dean, Chief Scientist at Google DeepMind, said on the X platform that this model was “trained to strengthen its ability to reason using its thoughts”. He also said that the model’s speed advantage is supported by Gemini Flash 2.0 technology. In fact, while the model offers solutions to complex problems such as physics problems, it acts by following a series of steps to reach a solution.
Although this process is different from human reasoning, it enables the model to produce powerful results by breaking down instructions into smaller tasks. Google product lead Logan Kilpatrick also shared an example of the model’s ability to solve problems with visual and textual elements.
In the meantime, Kilpatrick stated that this is Google’s “first step on the journey of reasoning”. Users will be able to try Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking on Google’s AI Studio platform. However, Google is also ramping up its efforts in “agentic” AI, unveiling an upgraded Gemini 2.0 model earlier this month.
